NC Divisional Leadership Trainee
Department: Corporate Adminstration
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Location: North Carolina
This position is responsible for demonstrating knowledge and competency across all aspects of the North Carolina business segment including egg production, flock well-being, barn and hatchery conditions, biosecurity, hatchery processes and effective people leadership.
In this position, candidates will have the opportunity for exposure and meaningful operational projects or responsibilities to demonstrate knowledge and ability level while training to independently manage a division or group of divisions.

The NC Divisional Leadership Trainee responsibilities are as follows:
Divisional Leadership:
- Learn to perform, oversee, and ensure day-to-day administrative and record keeping tasks related to management of the NC business unit.
- Demonstrate gathering information from variety of resources and expertise to make good business decisions for the division.
- Provide status updates through a variety of communication methods.
- Make recommendations regarding processes and systems to drive cost and efficiency improvements necessary to maintain/improve optimum egg fertility and poult quality.
- Participate in the development of strategic planning, division budgets, CapEx plans, ROI analysis.
- Present information individually and to groups, generate reports from the company databases, prepare and present information as necessary.
- Collaborate with Breeder Division Managers, Hatchery Managers, SLT and admin support teams on setting performance goals through effective planning and scheduling of team member roles and responsibilities.
- Ensure the safety of Select Genetics assets under the position’s management and maintain a safe, clean and positive working environment.
- Develop alongside operations managers to eventually lead, train, motivate, and successfully mentor other employees and managers.
- Job shadow and assist across all support and admin functions of the company including sales/planning, cost accounting, human resources, safety, technical teams.
- Perform job duties while constantly moving and using hands, occasionally lifting objects while being exposed to dust, cold, humidity, heat, chemicals, and fumes.
- Successfully work with live animals and a variety of tools and equipment.
- Study, exemplify and promote a “Servant Leadership” work environment in order to build and retain a productive team.
- Gain experience in retention, motivation and support management tools to guide a team through growth and operational challenges.
- Demonstrate leadership, collaboration and company values in accomplishing goals.
- Practice implementation of excellent management practices following Select Genetics protocols and procedures.
- Ensure compliance of regulations pertaining to bio security, animal welfare, and safety by all employees.

Education, Experience and Knowledge Requirements:
- 7+ years of operational and/or leadership experience.
- Knowledge and/or experience of animal husbandry and welfare required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication required.
- A College Degree in a related field is preferred.
- A solid understanding of basic business practices, advanced skills in math and Microsoft Office Suite
- The ability to be self-sufficient, able to organize and prioritize work, the ability to work under pressure
- Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and listening; the ability to communicate interact, influence, persuade all levels of employees.
- Ability to read and interpret relevant technical, industry, government regulations
- Exhibit sound business judgement, decision-making skills, determination and adaptability through a variety of challenges.
- Present a positive and professional image of the company through words and actions.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record
- Willingness to work varied schedule where some weekends will be required
- Does not own or operate around backyard poultry, foul, or swine operations off duty.
